Hazibag was developed in Australia by Wayne Loane who has over 20 years' experience in the waste industry. Having already developed an earlier successful product, the 'skip bag', Wayne saw the need for a safer and easier way to dispose of asbestos. Research and development began in 2009 and in 2010, Wayne founded Bagster Pty Ltd to facilitate this and bring the Hazibag to market. Launched in Australia in early 2011, Hazibag is manufactured by a company certified to international quality management standard ISO9001.

Certification for Packing Group III was achieved in June 2011 followed by Packing Group II in September 2012. Found to be ideal for a range of solid hazardous wastes, Hazibag is now widely used in Australia for the containment and transportation of asbestos, medical waste, contaminated soil, toxic wood and other solid hazardous wastes.

In November 2012, Hazibag was a finalist in the 2012 Australasian Waste & Recycling Expo Innovation Awards.  In 2015 Hazibag UK won a Green Apple Environment Award for Commerce & Industry and was shortlisted by the East of England Energy Group for a Cost & Collaboration Award.  In 2016, Hazibag UK won a National Federation of Demolition Contractors Award for Innovation.

This internationally used product has customers across Australia and Europe and is expanding into US and Asian markets. The exclusive distribution license for Hazibag in the UK was awarded to Windsor Waste Management.
